What there is to see and do?

  • Take a steam train On Humppila–Minkiö–Jokioinen -line Timetables...
  • Take a steam locomotive  cab ride Between Minkiö and Salminen, non-stop departures at Minkiön  Sa-Su from 11 o'clock until 17 o'clock.
  • Take a look at old time steam engines and stationary  petrol engines at the Minkiö station machine fields and watch work demonstrations. Engines are powering eg. circular saw and threshing machine.  A steam roller is running around depot area. More about engines...
  • Take a look at old automobiles  at the festival grounds.
  • For the smallest of the family there is a children's ground where you can see model railways and miniature steam engines.
  • Eat snacks and have a coffee  at the snack area and enjoy your own picknick at the picknick ground next to Minkiö station.

 

The program for 2010 Minkiö Steam Festival

The festival grounds are open on Saturday and Sunday on July 24 and 25 from 11.00 to 17.00.

Saturday 24.7.

11.00 The gates of festival ground open

11.15 Opening ceremony (The Minkiö Steam Festival 2010 will be declared open with a quire of steam wisthles)

Along the day: Differrent steam machines are running, the Vanha Savotta timber jack show, the oldest running steam locomotive in Finland -H.K. Porter is pulling a train and carring people around the festival ground, and small scale steam engines and trains on the children's area.

17.00 The festival closes for the night. The gates of festival ground are closed.

Sunday 25.7.

11.00 The gates of the festival ground open

What does it cost?

  • A festival day ticket for adults 15 euros
  • A festival day ticket for children (6–16 years) 5 euros, under 6 year for free
  • Tickets are for sale at the gates of the festival ground, onboard the trains and at Jokioinen and Humppila stations.  The tickets are valid for one day entrance in  the festival and a roundtrip on Jokioinen Museum Railway (for example from Humppila via Minkiö to Jokioinen and back).
  • Tickets for steam locomotive cab rides: Four kilometer roundtrip in the cab between Minkiö and Salminen 5 euros, 6–8 kilometer trip from Minkiö to Jokioinen or Humppila (return trip on board passanger coach) 15 euros. ATTN!: To attend cab rides you have to be at least 15 years old. Only one person at the time is accepted in a cab.
